Seasonal Symmetry is a photographic design project that uses images from the four seasons of nature and applies the simple mathematical principle of symmetry to create a new overall image. The striking result shows the interplay of color that occurs in the natural world and is rarely successfully duplicated in a studio.

There are four basic types of symmetry: rotation, translation, reflection and glide reflection. This project incorporates a combination of the reflection and rotation types of symmetry. All Seasonal Symmetry Designs are copyrighted.

Virginia Bluebells

Shenandoah River State Park

Found in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia in late March through April along river banks and moist low areas. Blooms only last for a short period but carpet the land with a foamy blue and purple froth. A walk through an area with Virginia Bluebells at their peak is certainly one you don't want to miss.
